Luis (Lou) Olivera
For Cumberland County District Court Judge
Hello and welcome to my on-line campaign headquarters. The Internet continues to bring us closer together than ever before, and I am pleased to provide this site to allow you to learn more about my family, my commitment to my community, and my campaign for one of 10 positions for Cumberland County District Court Judge. This Judgeship was newly created by the North Carolina Legislature in 2007 and made effective January 1st, 2008 and is up for election in November 2008. With the success we had in our 2006 campaign (receiving over 49% of total voters) we feel that the community wants me to continue to serve. I am running a grassroots election campaign because I believe the best way to determine what people look for in a judge is to talk to them face-to-face. You may have seen me at CCBC meetings, PWC Commissioner meetings, Fourth Fridays, other neighborhood and civic events, or at church. I enjoy meeting people and listening to their concerns because I care about our community. As one of your nine District Court Judges, I will continue to be accessible and visible throughout the Cumberland County. As a former prosecutor for the Cumberland County District Attorney I have the necessary experience, reverence and respect for the judicial system, and am qualified to shoulder the judicial responsibility necessary to preside with fidelity to the law and justice with equity.
